Subject: Alert: Hard to find part
I recently ran across a hard to find part situation that is currently being
respolved that I think you all can benefit from. The suspension bushings (DMC
part number 100154) was apparently manufactured specifically for the DMC by a
dinky Irish company and these bushings are hard to get. There is no replacement
for it. Currently the solution is to buy a rear control arm for $115 that has
two bushings in it and press the bushings out. This bushing wears especially
quickly on the inside of the front lower control arms (if you have some miles on
your car, check it out).
After doing some legwork, I find that DeLorean Motor Center ( (714) 554-6794 )
is currently tooling up to manufacture replacements of the bushing. If you have
a need for these you may consider giving them a call so they can manufacture an
appropriate number of spares.
I have nothing to do with DeLorean Motor Center. This is for your information
only.

I have over 90,000 miles on my DMC-12 thus far and have encountered very few
parts that are difficult to get. I have encountered a few exceptions:
1. Suspension bushings (see my other posting regarding this)
2. Ignition lock assembly (someone attempted to steal my car)
There are also some rare parts that are well-known like the front fenders. There
are fairly rare and demand a high price, but they are rare partly because of the
hoarding going on. Since they are rare, people "collect" because of the fear
that they will someday need one. If you really want one, you will find that they
are not as difficult to get as rumor has it, although they are pretty expensive.
Has anyone else identified parts that are particularly hard to get?

Subject: using DIN type radio
Has anyone found a way to convert the radio opening so that a DIN type
radio can be used? I want to be able to put the original radio back in
the event that I should ever sell.

Subject: Dash lights
My dash-instrument lights do not come on at all when I turn on the
headlights. Although everything else is working fine (radio, courtesy
lights, door lights, etc). Fuses seems to be ok. Is there a way to test
where the "connection break" is in the wireing? Has anyone had this
problem before?
