Hello DML'ers
For those of you who are looking to purchase a Delorean in Europe, I came
across these two cars in a second hand magazine in France:
1. 1981 model, recently rebuilt engine, no price or milage listed - looks
OK
on photo. Car is in France and the number to call is: +33 474 22 17 06
during office hours.
2. 1981 model, 7000 km (miles ?), black interior, apparently in great
shape.
Asking price is 100000 FF (about 17000 US$). This car is located in
Belgium
and the number to call is: +32 71 38 07 26 or + 32 71 40 49 37.
Any of these two belong to people on the list ?
Nikki.

When I bought my D, the oil pressure needle sat vertically when the car =

Today's problem involves the air conditioning/heater vent selection =

for. Whenever I adjust the position, the air might come out of the =
defrost, or it might only come out of the doors, but doesn't like to =
come out of the front much. I finally tricked it into shooting air out =
of the front, but if I turn the air OFF, it may never return to the =
front. Also, whenever I turn off the car, I hear a "shhhhhh" noise =
coming from the passenger side (maybe a vaccum leak?). Any ideas how I =

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
Yes, the problem was that the cable slipped out of the bracket at the
handle.
My bracket actually bent a little, so I removed the entire assembly, and
crushed the "U" portion of it so it would grip the cable a bit tighter.
I also think this problem may be caused by uneven adjusted emergency
brake's. I had to remove the wheels to release enough slack to fix the
handle, so I re-adjusted the e-brakes. The side that popped out of the
bracket was quite a bit tighter than the other when I started. They look
about even now.
The good news: I fixed the E-Brake, took about a hour or so, and I found
60 cents under the carpet, along with some screws and stuff.. I guess
they
were left there at the factory, cause there is no place for them to go.
The bad news: One of the seat studs is rusted and stripped (I had to pull
the seat to get the e-brake unit out). and even worse (TAKE NOTE, DONT
MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME!!) I snapped 2 of the small studs on the
emergency brake handle assembly. 2 of the 3 that hold it to the floor
pan.
the other 3 are holding it OK for now..
Are the studs replaceable? or do I have to replace the whole assembly? Do
you think the 60 cents I found will cover it?! :-)

1450 lbs with speeds of 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and priced less than $20,000.
A production site hasn't been named though headquarters and an engineerng
facility are planned for Long Island, NY. Intro dates were not mentioned.

Hi Travis!
I "have" that problem on occasion also. What is happening is the drain
tube for your resevoir is clogged. What I do is just shoot some high
pressure air up in the tube and unclog it. It's located right behind
the passenger side front wheel. It hangs down freely and is about 1/2
inch thick, it's much easier to find once you know exactly where it is.
This works pretty well as long as leaves and stuff don't get down in the
vents across the front hood of the car. If you park under trees a lot
there may be a more permanent fix.
Hope you get it working.

Sounds like the same procedure that I followed to fix my E-brake.
Apparently the self-adjuster mechanisms aren't all that reliable -- mine
need to be reworked but I haven't gotten down the list to that point
yet. Fortunately, I only snapped one of the handle mounting studs,
don't know about replacements.

Steve's post notwithstanding, there was a factory service bulletin about
this, specifically referring to condensation from the A/C. It involved
attaching a foam padding to the underside of the A/C in the passenger
footwell. In spite of the padding (which my car has), I still get a wet
flooe when i run the A/C for more than an hour or so. Email me if you
need details on the service bulletin.

Glad to hear it wasn't a broken cable after all.
Marc, Was your car made in Columbus? Typicaly, you might find
60 pence left from the DMC factory in Ireland, but not 60 cents.
Maybe your car picked it up at a QAC? I think SSI says the QACs were

I have listened to lots of opinions, but now I feel its time to give my
OPINION. The DOA is a not for profit organization, not joining(or
dropping out) is not going to affect it drastically. You can quit and let
the board run it their way or stay a member and work to make changes.
With enough votes you can change the by-laws and revamp the whole
thing. This would not be easy but the DOA is in place and fixing it would
be easier than starting over(or you may find that the majority doesn't
want it fixed). The DOA is more social based while the list is more tech
based. I get alot more info of the list but I would also enjoy meeting
alot of you face to face. You need both types of organizations to get the
most out of either. The Delorean community would be better off to build
alliences rather than fences.
I'll read your coments on the list and hopefully meet some of you in
Snowmass.

Subject: DML: Rear Sway Bars
Joe Steuben,
I have a source for a Delorean anti-sway bar. In fact, I have a Delorean
anti-sway bar but I haven't installed it yet. I bought the bar from Fred
Lockett for $200 including S&H however I have been reluctant to install it
because 1) it would modify the car from the original factory condition and
I'm not sure how far I want to go with modifications and 2) the bar is the
same diameter as the front anti-sway bar so I am not sure how much of a
difference it would make. Looking at the design of the car, I am pretty
sure
the front anti-sway bar is not there to prevent sway as much as it is to
serve as a tension strut (to provide strength for the lower control arms
from
bending back at roadway speeds). Tension struts were not put on because
with
the Delorean frame, it would be hard to mount and it would probably just
rip
the front crumple tubes off. Instead, it appears they just connected the
struts and put in a sway bar instead.
Looking at the Renault GTA, which has a similar design to the Delorean
(pictured in Delorean Gold), the rear sway bar uses a sway bar in the rear
which is roughly double the diameter as the front one. Therefore I have
been
reluctant to spend the money and modify the car before I talk with
somebody
else who has had this done.
Steve Shortz: Is the sway bar offered by ADDCO a larger size or the same
size than the DMC's front?

It's even older than that. The Firestar pic is from the January 1986 Issue

You can't tell from Duke's picture, but the Firestar 500 looks just like a
Vector W-8. Also, did you know that the Ferrari F-40 got several of it's
