A suitable cross reference item to the RPM relay comes off a 1980 240-series Volvo which is stocked by most foreign car places. This relay costs on the order of $40 from most places, whereas the original replacement from KAPAC is $72. In fact you cant take your foot off the accelerator peddel for the first minute as it just wont idle over 600 RMP, and then for the next two minutes it sounds and feels like it is about to stall. Many times it does stall out but always restarts instantly. Then all of a sudden it purrs and idles perfectly between 850 and 950 RMP. If anyone has solved this problem let me know what did it please! They're in very good condition with some slight sidewall checking. Never been curbed but do have some rub marks on the inside of the fronts. They came on the car I bought and since I don't intend to show it I had them removed as soon as I got home. I figured someone might want them. High offer before Jan. You need to consider that DeLorean had a lot of people who didn't want him to produce his car...as I recall...part of his capitol came from benefits from GM that he was given only under the agreement that he wouldn't make or assist in another motor vehicle company or venture. >But if it ever is done, I would want to see: >1) A more powerful engine Legend Industries...The FORMER, legend industries...was contracted to redesign and build 5,000 twin turbo engines... Well...One was built, the prototype, which I believe is still in Car #502?...(someone confirm me on this?)...the company soon went out of business. That 5,000 engine order went down with DMC...and subsequently, Legend Industries. >2) No British electronic components (i.e. Lucas parts) I haven't really had many problems with using original parts (some with just a little modification) but overall mine have performed wonderfully...are you reffering to anything in particular? >3) Complete leather interior (no simulated-leather vinyl on dash and >doors) hmmm...I always assumed they were...Oh well...I'm still deciding on a full reupolster anyway... Usually, when the speedo cable breaks, the speedometer does not work at all. The problems you experienced are the same as when my angle drive was going out. Bryan Pearce Subject: Stainless Steel Illusion Sent: 12/03 10:02 PM Received: 12/04 6:19 AM From: Chase Clark, stormrider(AT)socketis.net To: dmcnews, dmcnews(AT)goodnet.com I recently purchased two copies of Stainless Steel Illusion from a nearby library and would be willing to sell one of the copies. Both are hardback books in good shape and have the paper sleeve cover, however, they do have the standard library markings and related stickers/pockets. I figured I might as well purchase them as the library generally just gives books away after so many years. At least this way, I can assure they reside in the hands of people who will appreciate them. I was just curious as to the demand for this book and prices people are willing to pay for it. If interested, contact me via email before Dec. 10. Naturally, I would ship it C.O.D. via UPS so that the buyer can inspect it before actually paying for the item. I have learned the hard way to always inspect an item before buying it rather than taking someone else's opionion. My new DeLorean's fuel system is totally shot (which is why my car no longer starts) even though the previous owner swore he had totally replaced the fuel system with new parts recently. Don't ask about it unless you are prepared for a long story. Anyway, it is safe to say that any profits obtained from the above sale will be put to good use bringing my DeLorean back to life. And if I ever do obtain more copies of Stainless Steel Illusion I will be sure to offer them here first so that true DeLorean enthusiasts/owners can have first chance at the book. Thanks everyone. ~ Chase Stormrider Media Productions Chase Clark, Owner P.O.
