Jory,

Congrats on your purchase.

The water pump is not difficult to replace, but is kind of time consuming.
To replace it, you must disconnect it from the hoses in back of it. To
do that you must remove the intake manifold. To do that, you must
remove most of the fuel injection. One major tip for you: TAKE SOME
PICTURES OF THE FUEL INJECTION HOSES! I made the mistake of just
labeling them a bit, figuring I would get the sucker back to gether
pretty quickly. Well, other stuff came up, and the pump took a few
weekends to finish.

Needless to say I couldn't figure out where all those hoses went. When
jogging around the neighborhood, I saw a dmc in someones open garage.
I asked if I could sketch the fuel injection lines, and the guy offered
to bring his car over my house while I finished.

While you are in there, you should replace the water pump hoses that
go under the manifold. They are fairly cheap compared to the work
to get to them. You will also need a set of intake manifold O ring
gaskets. I don't think there is a manifold gasket, but am not
positive.

The door handle is plastic. They break fairly easily. There are a few
companies that sell aluminum replacements. I have never seen them
up close, but they looked pretty good in the pictures.

Good luck with the DMC.

Recently I had to open the rear interior trim panels to install new
rear
speakers. Does anyone know of something to use to recoat the black
plastic
seal smoothly sealing the trrim piece to the body around the door trim?
Does anyone out there know a part number for a replacement battery for
the door key light?

At one time, I could step into any Giant Auto and say "'82 Volvo GLE",
and the parts
personnel would know which engine I was talking about. You may try this
tactic, as the
Volvo GLE used the selfsame PRV combine 2.85L V6 [with a modification or
two].

However, it's been quite a while since I've used any of the six shops you
mentioned, so I'm
not the best reference. I remember Delorean One being fairly good with
stock - better
than DeLorean Motor Company - but also rather high in pricing.

Can anyone answer the following:

a) Is it possible to convert a DeLorean to RHD, if so who can do this
work?

b) Is it possible to modify a DeLorean to give it some sort of rear seat?

My waterpump replacement is progressing well. I was able to locate a
knowledgeable volvo parts house in the south bay (volpar, 800-258-4545)
who
provided me with the correct waterpump. I ended up buying a hose set from
a
DeLorean parts shop though, since a few of the hoses (such as those
running
under the intake manifold) are different than the standard Volvo b-28
engine configuration (thanks to the list members who helped me learn how
to
identify my engine, etc). We'll see how that goes...

Getting the old (apparently unobtanium) pulley off the waterpump was also
a
bit challenging. I'd be happy to provide guidance with this procedure if
anyone else goes down this road (the unnamed DeLorean parts place where I
bought the hoses subsequently refused to help me on the pulley removal...
saying I would get that information when I ordered their waterpump. Given
the price they quoted, and the price I paid for the same part, I figure
those instructions are worth approximately $200 ;)

While replacing the waterpump, I am also installing all new hoses, new
thermostat, new plugs, new rotor/ distributor cap and possibly a heater
valve. New gaskets and orings as well. Anything I am overlooking?

ps: In my glovebox there is a very faded (unreadable) fax which looks to
be
"simplified bleeding of the cooling system." Does anyone have a copy of
this document they would be willing to email of fax?

Fredrick Embden - Unable to mail to your address..???

In response to your question, however, Yes, the Window motor was
removed from the driver side and replaced with a new one by the previous
owner before he discovered that the fault was not the motor, but the
wiring
in the t-top of the car that was causing intermittent operation.
Your opening bid of $100 is accepted, and I'll keep you posted.
