Surprise, surprise. Buying an 18 year old car sight unseen, uninspected, and all you have wrong with it is a clutch master cylinder and a cracked dash? You should be jumping for joy!
> with the car. He is thinking about selling it and I > am not happy about that. If anyone has anything they
Given the problems or lack thereof that you've had, I'm kind of curious about why he bought the car in the first place. You had two problems, only one of which affects drivability, and you've already fixed it. Why sell it? Just buy a dash cover from your favorite supplier and fix the dash when you get around to it.
That said, uh, you look at the car, you smile, you get in, you turn the key, you pull out of the driveway, you want it, you buy it. What else is there to say? :}

Just MY luck - as soon as I post the thing about the new Parts For Sale/Wanted section, the website server goes down! Must me something big, because the admin sites for the server are down too. It's been at least a day now, I'll post something again when it comes back.
(Those who are REALLY astute will notice that DMCHouston is also down, we use the same Host Server company - separate accounts. I own the dmcnews account now, the DNS transfer is still in process).

After much input from everyone, I decided to start into the car today and started with the shock. It seemed tight enough, but while I had it up on jack stands, I noticed that this large piece of metal or, for lack of a better word, skidplate that is beside the suspension had come loose. You can see where it has rubbed up against the shock absorber, so I believe this is the source of my strange thumping noise. But thanks again to all who wrote me!!

I must fall into a "replaced" list, because when I got mine, it didn't have a locking cap, just a standard twist on cap. This has also led to some fuel smell problems, because it doesn't seal at all.

April 16, 2000 is the 18th annual Englishtown swap meet and auto show.
We had DeLorean winners last year in the Spring and Fall show at englishtown. The turnout was very good.
Keep the date open.

I can help you with the windshield coloring. That black thing going across the top comes off very easily. Open the doors and move the weather stripping that is on the side of that stainless steel piece (yea, it's stainless steel!) there should be 3 or 4 screws behind the weatherstripping on each side of the car. just remove those, throw some paint thinner on, and spray paint it semigloss black. have a great new year

The webhosting provider for DMC=A0(Houston) was physically moving their servers to a new location and they had an "accident" resulting in our site being redirected to an old backup, which is why the "old" online store is/was back online. They are working to correct it, and in the meantime, the current site, with the "new" store can be found at:

As Dave mentioned, both DMC=A0(HOUSTON) and DMC-News are with the same hosting company, and at least as far as DMC=A0(Houston) is concerned the mail servers are down, too, so if you send anything to us and don't get a reply, thats why.
Previously, I provided our IP address for access to our site, but all the hyperlinks still say "usadmc.com". So, to access the store, at least for the time being, instead of:

I seem to recal going to a show, and some one mentioning that the 83s had a different tailpipe than the 81's. My 83 has the exact same tailpipe as my 81 I am curious. IF you were to order a new tailpipe from our friendly local neiborhood Delorean parts dealer, would it be a different design? Just curious thanks Joe P. 6808 17167

Ten reasons ( not necessarily in order ... or spelled correctly) to hang on to the Delorean:
10. Does not have a back seat, no room for your mother-in-law 9. Is slightly less expensive to maintain than an Austin-Healy 3000 8. Drinks less gas than a Ford Explorer 7. The average guy on the street will think you are a millionaire (i.e., high blue book value car) 6. The paint doesn't chip ... except on the facia, the wheels, etc., 5. You can still find parts (California, Texas, and New York please add 5% sales tax) 4. When armed with a flux capacitor and approaching 87 mph ... will take you back to the future 3. Your wife won't want to borrow it to go shopping when those giant bails of toilet paper, facial tissue, or paper towels are on sale at the grocery (Come to think of it my wife never wants to borrow it at all!) 2. If your male, and under 95 you have to throw your hard earned money down some rat hole ... this one cannot be named as a corespondent in a divorce case 1. On a spring day, when it's cleaned up and running right ... it does turn heads!!!

I need to remove the cap to the Ignition Distributor. The books say to remove the whole distributor you need to remove first the fuel distribution unit. By the looks of it, the same applies if you only want to remove the cap. Is this correct, or is there some way in which the cap can be removed without removing anything else.

Dear list,
After many years of surfing through Delorean pictures, I have learned mostly all the differences in early prototype and late prototype Deloreans. But, once in awhile I see pictures of the interior of a Delorean that is exactly the same as the production cars except for one thing. The glovebox does not have a latch to it. Does anyone know why? For those of you who own Stainless Steel Illusion, refer to page 103 for a picture of this. I don't remember all the other pictures specifically in which I have seen this same situation in the past.
Thanks, and I wish everyone on the list a happy new year!
