Does anyone know where I can get my steering wheel re-covered in leather, I
also would like a wiring diagram of the electrical door locks, Really dont like the idea of being locked in my DMC, must be quite embarrassing

I had this problem with my car also. The solution centered around the
center vent louvers. There are 3 controls for the louvers: the first
moves the louver up and down, the second moves the louver side to
side, and the third closes the air path entirely. This third one
was the cause of my problem. There is a knurled wheel on the
outside of each vent. Turning this wheel moves a flap behind the
louvers to open and close the airpath. If this wheel is turned too
far, the flap can skip past the little plastic stop molded into the
vent louver housing or the pivot pin on the flap itself can shear off.
If this happens, the flap gets stuck in the closed position, restricting
the path of air.

To solve the problem, gently remove the vents from the center console.
Once you have the unit out, figuring out what is wrong is usually
obvious. Repair can be tricky, particularly if you are not used to
working with small plastic parts.

Another potential problem is somewhat more serious. The louvers are
made out of plastic paddles that are joined by a plastic beam that
clips to each paddle. Sometimes, this paddle can break or pop off
of the paddles. If this happens, it can fall down into the ventilation
system and wedge itself into the ductwork. It can also prevent
the vaccuum actuated ventilation system from working properly. If
your louvers are in good shape and all paddles move together, this
is probably not a problem.

By the way, for those interested, I can rebuild those beam and clip
peices using brass and felt. The feel is much better and they won't
break.

Are you talking about the door vents or the center vents or both? I had a
similar problem on my '82, and as it turned out, my ductwork behind the
dash did not meet up with the center vents at all. My radio was well
cooled, however. I've since determined that whena previous owner replaced
the stereo, said person neglected to put back the connecting ductwork,
soI just "manufactured" two ducts from some flexible plastic (okay,
overhead transparency material) and now the airflow is much improved.
This also improved (a bit) the pressure I got from my door vents.

Good luck!

Delorean(s) in Bowie British Day
Delorean video to trade with memorabilia

To everyone interested,
Every June in Bowie Maryland there is a British Car Day held at Allen
Pond Park. Last year Rob Grady and friend, as well as myself opened a
display stand for the DeLorean owners association, and his restoration
company P.J. Grady INC. We featured Rob's "British Racing Green
DeLorean", and attracted a huge crowd handing out information on the car.
In addition a man from the Jaguar Owners group came to see us, and he
commented that Mr. DeLorean did not come this year on account of the
weather. I note that the weather was a typical summer day in Maryland, 95
degrees, and 100% humidity. If I am not mistaken, I recall identifying a
gentleman who had a resemblance to Mr. DeLorean with a 1940's Jaguar
SS100 in 1993. I'll post more info when I get it, it would be a nice
addition to the British Car Day to have a group of DeLorean owners there
with one of their pride and joys. Contact me at my E-mail, or call me at
301-314-0376.
The Delorean video is for trade with Delorean memorabilia. I'll be happy
to entertain any offer submitted.

I have the car that you have discribed (except for the velcro/beltbuckle
thing). It was originally offered in the mid 1980's and was marketed under
the name "FAST ROLLIN' PACESETTERS" and manufactured(?) by Intex Recreation
Corp(made in China). I dont know what the ZEE stands for. I currently have
two of these, one of which is in the original package. I have heard talk
that they had to stop producing these because of some copyright infringment
thing.

BTW, this is identical(except for the wheels) to the ones that are avalable
currently at TOYS R US stores.(see my previous posting to this list)

In responce to "mbain@mail.lovett.pvt.k12.ga.us" I am actually flying to
Florida tomorrow specifically to visit Universal Studios. I will try to pick
up a couple of the cars (I am interested in them myself). If anyone wants one
let me know, and since it will be after the fact, it will be on a first come
first serve basis. I will only ask for cost plus shiping. (if they are
cheap, I will get a bunch......)

Anybody who plans on going out and buying a bunch of DeLorean toys, I'm
interested. Send one my way and I'll pay for the toy, postage, and a
little something extra.

Just a note to let you know that my Delorean just went through the Kruse
Scottsdale '96 Autction. We were all pleasently surprised to learn that we
set a new record for price paid for a Delorean at the auction ($21,000). It
now has a new owner.

	Ah...Beautiful Washington, with it's 13 ferenheit and -2
wind-chill.
Shortly after this cold blast came in, I went to start my DeLorean
(which I might add, is seeing snow and being covered with it for the first
time in it's exitence) It did not start. The battery was fine, exhaust
was fine, it just didn't sound like it was getting any gas. Frozen gas
line?...a day later when I finally got it started, gave it a good run on
the freeway, and poured some fuel-antifreeze into it. Next morning, it
wouldn't start. This has been persisting for the past week, where it
wouldn't start in the morning, but after the temperature warmed up to a
sweaty 20 ferenheit, it starts fine.
This morning I was in a hurry and while I was trying to start it,
gave the gas pedal a few good slams to the floor and back, started right
up. I found this to work this afternoon when I got off work, when for some
reason, in 30 ferenheit, full tank of gas, good battery, it didn't want to
start.
	*SIGH*....Any suggestions???...Please????

This winter hasn't been very good to my beloved DeLorean. It lost
it's garage to my girlfriend's sister's family's possessions. It's
windshield wiper has decided it doesn't like me and only works after I
don't need it anymore, or am done wiping the windshield myself. The
antenna has also rebelled. It decided it didn't like it's nice cozy
recession in the air intake and has chosen to display itself fulltime by
remaining in the upright position. It got snowed on. Water froze the fan
for over an hour, leaving me to endure frostbite with the passenger window
open to defrost the windshield to see where I'm going (It's obviously not
the "In thing" in my part of the country to see, or even care, where you're
going, but I've always liked it. The rear driver-side tire decided it
didn't like being full of hot air, and vented in on the freeway offramp
through a hole in the tire not even the guy at michelin could explain. My
exhaust manifold got mad at me and turned bright red one day. This
happened just shortly after the muffler bracket fell apart. That clicking
that ceased for only a few days after my mechanics installed new gaskets or
some such, has since returned. And to top it all off...I think my car
needs another tune up.

*SIGH* Sorry...Just had to get that out and you people seemed like
the only ones who might stand a chance at understanding what I was
saying...I appreciate your time. Thanks.

With the assistance of a back issue of DeLorean World, I was able to obtain a part number for the antenna mast, and though I'm told I could've ordered it from "Manny, Moe and Jack" down at Pep Boys, I instead gave the part number to Tim Rutledge at Swedish Autoservice (800-350-7429) and he was able to get it for me (at a better price, even) and it arrived yesterday. Appears to match perfectly, and I will follow up Monday with a full report on the installation. This is a quick, easy inexpensive fix for those of you with a bad power antenna mast, and this part IS an OEM part.

Harada Black Antenna Mast - RXMB-5
Harada Chrome Antenna Mast - RXM-5

Cost from Swedish was $28.00 plus shipping.
