I have subscribed to the digest almost from the beginning,
(issue 7 or 8 I think) and have found very useful information
and comments concerning the car, parts, maintenance and related
subjects. Have not stuck my oar in the water (until now) except
for a few direct replies every once in a while (confirmed lurker
I guess).

As an aside, many thanks to James Espey for starting this
and to all the people who have contributed ideas and information.

Presently I have two DeLoreans, both 81 stick, one grey and
one black interior. The black interior is mechanically in better
shape but dented all along the right side. The grey has a good
body and is my daily driver.

A few comments from digest 86:

I agree with Wolfie on the 6'5" can I fit issue. I am 6"5" myself.
There is actually more leg room in the DeLorean than in the 80 Celica GT
I have. True, the seat is all the way back, and I tend to lean the
seat back a long way too, but have no trouble fitting or seeing things
through window and mirrors.

I have also replaced the O2 sensor with the 81 B28F unit from Volvo as
Chris suggests. Works fine and hope it lasts a long time too.

The purist vs modified issue could be debated convincingly by both sides,
but IMHO if you are happy with the car and it does what you want from it,
then who cares which side of the debate you find more convincing. (guess
my egocentric nature is showing)

The attachment of old digests to the current one since the change to an
automajic system is an interesting development. Guess it will not be
necessary to retrieve old digest issues from

http:/www.goodnet.com/users/mikasa/oldnews.html

anymore now that this new feature has been added. :)

	Two comments From earlier digests:

As The Doctor mentioned "2) How's the CD-ROM coming along? Any ideas on
price as of yet?"

On AC Freon Charge, I need to get this done before long so thanks to
Chase for the information. Did not know this and will keep it in mind.

Back to lurker mode :)

George

Hello For those wondering about a Hot Wheels DeLorean, No they
were not made by Hot Wheels, They were made by Dee Zee and come as a
single package. I found mine in a little general store in Fairfield,
Wa. They had at least 20 of them in stock There are still plenty
around .
                                            Sincerly

Chapter 41 of the DeLorean Owners Association will be Participating in
the Portland St. Patricks Day festival on Saturday. Contact Knut
Grimsrud for information:
        work: (503) 264-8419
        home: (503) 649-8053

We will be leaving from Barnes/Miller Village (a small shopping center
where Miller crosses Barnes road) for downtown promptly at 10:00 am on
Saturday morning. Since some of the roads will be blocked off for the
festival, I suggest anyone that wants to participate meet up at the
shopping center before heading downtown. I will be at the shopping
complex a little after 9:00am in order to detail my car first.

Does anybody know if John Delorean still lives at 567 Lamington in New
Jersey, or has it been repossessed already? If so, where is he living now?

Thanks,
Matt

I'm 6'4" and I have no trouble fitting into my car. John Delorean
himself is 6'4" (or so I've heard). I would definitely recommend trying
a couple on for size though... I don't have a whole lot of extra head
room once the door comes down.
As for insurance... I'm under 25, single, and I possess a
slightly less than perfect driving record, and I have been quoted under
$2000 CDN a year for full coverage. I think it will depend on many factors
(driving record, age, area of residence, etc) so the only way to tell how
much it will be is to phone around to the companies and start asking.
From what I've heard here though, you probably shouldn't have to pay much
more than $3000 US, or your probably paying too much.
As far as where to find cars... they are out there. I bought
mine out of an auto trader. I have also seen the occasional one
advertised in the DuPont Registry. You can also see whats available on
the Delorean Homepage to get an idea of prices and availability.
	Good Luck
Eric

tell me if it's okay to drive the DeLorean as an only car without
shelling out Big bucks for repair? I am not interested in keeping it as
a collectors item but need it to last for 4-years, until I graduate
collage and can aford to buy one for collecting.

Subject: ADMIN NOTE

ADMIN MOTE: Arrgh! And that's putting it mildly. I share everyones
frustration with the performance of the DeLorean Mailing List over the
past two weeks and apologize to all who have been inconvenienced. Anyone
who says that the DeLorean Mailing List the past two weeks has not been
worth the cost of the subscription has been correct.

Without going into technical details, the "message in a message" problem
has been my fault. I believe it has been corrected. The irregular mailing
dates are based on a preset digest size that automatically generates a
digest once 40K worth of messages are received. Therefore, when a
"mailing in a mailing" occurs, the 40K threshold is reached, resulting in
an automatic digest.

I'm now told that the only way a digest list can be moderated is if a
"regular" list is also maintained. The messages posted to the "regular"
list are moderated, and then the digest is created from those messages.
So, starting soon (probably next week) we will have a "regular" mailing
list as well as a digest. This doesn't mean you have to get both of them,
you can subscribe to one or the other. Subscribers to the "regular' list
will receive individual messages within a few hours after they are
posted, and the digest subsribers will continue to receive a compilation
of those messages on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Check the web page if you have any questions...if your question is not
answered there, them email me at "mikasa(AT)goodnet.com". Thanks!
