Lubrication is your main concern. Change the oil ! A good idea is to put a tea spoon of oil (two stroke preferably into the spark plug holes. put the spark plugs back in and don't connect them. turn the engine over slowly (you can actually use a ratchet on the main pulley) or the starter. after several revolution you can try hooking it up. run it for about 15 minutes(idle), change the oil again. This is probably the most important since lack of lubrication is going to cause the most damage. There are other concerns. such as bad gas. Best to drain the gas tank and put in new gas with conditioner in it.(If you're really zealous, you'd take the gas tank out and thoroughly rinse it !). The injectors or probably gummed up. you could disassemble the ejection unit and clean it. Then there's the regular tune up stuff( wires, plugs etc..)

Joe,
I have a picture of the Bristol-Meyers building that currently
occupies
the Bridgewater, New Jersey site on my web page (link below). A picture
of
that site c. 1981 can be seen in the November 82 issue of Time magazine
and in
the Grand Delusions book. I don't know if it was actually a QAC, all you
can
tell from the Time picture is that it appears to be some sort of
recieving/storage lot for the cars. The Cadillac dealership next door to
this
site (visible blue awning in the Time picture) was still there when I
took my
picture, and the owner confirmed that this was indeed the place shown in
Time,
and that John DeLorean himself didn't live to far from there.
Bridgewater probably wouldn't show up on a map, because it consists of
that Cadillac dealership, a coffee shop, a narrow strip of road and not
much
else.
Hope that helps some,
Josh

Sense you resorted to using the DML to contact me, I shall use it to reply.
Hello Erik,
I have seen no e-mail from you so that's why you have had none from me. I do recall our telephone conversation and I recall telling you that the kits were being produced and shipped based on when you purchased and not based on the edition number. You may be interested in what I have sitting right hear....It's a :limited edition kit that has edition number 034 and license number 88MPH. On one end there is a label that states " This is the only true DeLorean Model kit ever produced featuring a brushed metal skin and working Gullwing doors" on the other end there are two coupons for the Frame and engine. The kit is shrink wrapped and is sealed using an embossed gold seal.
Some time on March 7 a confirming e-mail was sent to Delorean 502@exit.com asking for a shipping address. The reason you completed kit is hear on my desk is I haven't gotten a reply the message did not bounce......Don't you love computers and e-mail!
Try e-mail again or The DMC Bulletin board, Don't feel to bad several finished kits sit hear on the desk with lost owners......

I made it to my first Pacific Northwest Delorean Club outing this past Sunday. What a treat it was to see all of those Deloreans in one = place.
The local club had a St. Patrick's Day brunch in Bellevue followed by a short drive towards the mountains to the outlet stores in North Bend, WA. It was really fun to see a line of Deloreans on the highway all = the way up... I trailed behind so my fianc=E9 could take pictures. =20
I never realized how different they really were from each other. = Little details, little upgrades, all of which made each car an individual. Some were better kept than others, but all of them made me want to have one. ;-)
I wanted to say thanks for answering my endless questions about your cars to any of the PNDC members that are on the list. I also wanted to encourage anyone who has ever been interested in a Delorean but hasn't done it yet to get out and meet your local club! If your local club is half as nice as this one, you'll learn a lot about the cars and what to look for while shopping for your own Delorean.
I know I won't be able to get mine for another year or so at best, but I'm already looking forward to the next event. =20
Thanks again all you PNDCers, Dave Quick http://q.extreme.com

Has anyone tried to gather info on all of the vins out there? Listing them in order and where the car currently resides whether by an owner in a certain state or country, museum, or wrecked? Just curious. I think it would be an interesting internet project for those who have Delorean pages.

Hopefully by this summer I'll be able to purchase P.J. Grady's lock and window zilla upgrade kits for our DeLorean. I see that there is an article in the DeLorean World magazine issue 5.5 that covers door panel removal. Not being a member of the DOA I'm not allowed to purchase back issues so I was wondering if anyone on the list might have that issue and would be willing to sell me a photo copy.
Hope this isn't considered a tacky request. If so, I'm sorry but I just can't see spending $60.00 a year for membership when I pay $35.00 to $40.00 at other clubs that issue monthly magazines. I've heard the instructions that come with Rob's upgrade kit are very thorough and one can always call him for help if needed so maybe that's enough. I just thought it would be nice to have something to start reading up on before hand. I've found some very good information in the archives as well. Nothing like being prepared or in my case the mentally dim need to start early.
Thanks

Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 10:46:39 -0500 From: Michael Pack <mpack1@tiger.towson.edu> Subject: DML: Illusion of Stainless DeLorean
I have always wondered why John Lamm titled the book "Stainless Steel Illusion". The automotive press was very hard on the car. Why did the press, who according to previous articles in the auto magazines who touted the car a something new and revolutionary write such negative articles about the car? Keep in mind Lamborgini,Ferrari, etc, sell far, far, less cars than DMC hoped to sell, and their price points are significantly much more expensive and they are always sold out every model year. At the end there were thousands of new unsold DMC-12 at the shipping docks in Belfast, LA and New Jersey. If our DMCs were really what John DeLorean built them up to be in the auto magazines they would have sold. Even if there were hard economic time in the early 1980's, the cars with excellent build quality, preformance, etc, etc sold and auto magazine journalists hailed them as very good cars, something that we DeLorean owners never will accept. We were sold a very ordinary car with different doors, finish and worst than average preformance and economy. Sender: dmcnews@world.std.com Precedence: list Reply-To: dmcnews@world.std.com
So is the DeLorean a good car, or as the book is titled just a "Stainless Steel Illusion" ?

Dear List,
I have discovered recently that I have no need for the set of two
black sheepskin seat covers that came with my DeLorean. I therefore am
offering them up for sale for $175 a piece plus shipping. The covers
are authentic Australian lamb fur from the Hurrs company. They are
custom made for the DeLorean, and sell new for over $300 a piece. The
covers are in excellent condition and just returned from the dry
cleaners. If you are interested please e-mail me privately at
haldeman.4@osu.edu or call me at 1-513-232-4076.
The price is negotiable.
Thanks,
Josh

In 1990, the Colorado Historical Society inaugurated a program to devote one issue of its magazine each year, for ten years, to an examination of life in Colorado during succeeding decades of the 20th Century. The current issue examines the '80s.
Each of these special issues has a cover picture of an automobile representative of the decade under discussion. Previous issues have included a 1906 Buick, a 1914 Fritchle ( an electric made in Denver), Amelia Earhart's 1923 Kissel Gold Bug, a 1930 Cord L29 Town Car from author Clive Cussler's collection, etc. etc. (all Colorado owned cars).
Well, the DeLorean was chosen as the car for this issue discussing the '80s and the picture is absolutely spectacular. You really should get this for your DeLorean memoriabilia collection.
I am attempting to get rights to the picture from the Colorado Historical Society to have it blown up and offer it as a new poster, but in the meantime (and they may not be willing to grant such permission), you may order your copy of this magazine from:
Colorado Historical Society 1300 Broadway Denver, CO 80203
Or, phone the bookstore at the Museum at 1-303-866-3682. I don't know how many copies they have. Cost to you would be $4.95 plus shipping and handling.
The article contains some inaccuracies, but the photo is spectacular.

Every year in Ponchatoula, Louisianna we have a festival that is centered around Louisianna's favorite berry. Today I was talking to a friend about the strawberry festival and he suggested that it would be cool if some of my D friends could come out and drive their cars in the anual parade.
If I can get a few cars to attend this exiting weekend, April 10 and 11th, I will be able to make special arrangements with the City Chamber of Commerce. I should be able to arrange for special parking priveledges and there will also be a carshow to follow.
Don't forget that this is one top five festivals in the Southeast. Please feel free to contact me ASAP with any questions or comments. We only have a few weeks to go.
If we succeed this may become an anual even for us DMLers.
You can contact me at (504) 386-3816 with any of your questions or comments.
See you in the future.

there has found a good carpet cleaner that works well and won't fade the
fabric. Just in case it matters, I have the grey interior.
