AC part No A815C is listed in their catalog, but is apparently out of
production. This cross referenced to a WIX 46112 which fits just fine.

To James Espey, regarding VIN numbers...sorry, I missed that one; mine was
made in
December of 81, is titled an 82 and is 10006. I purchased it from Mark
DeLorean in
Ohio when I lived there. He had it custom painted a red candy colored blend
for car
shows in 82 as they were going to offer this as an option. Also, it has twin
turbo chargers,
the first from now Island Turbo. Consequently, the side has an air brushed
silver stripe
starting as a point at the nose and widening towards the tail with the words
"TWIN TURBO"
air brushed in the stripe just under the rear window. It has been a real
attention-getter as well
as being rather quick. I've had the car since July of 84 and have driven it to all
coasts and in
the 91 CANNONBALL to raise money for cancer research for kids. Guy
Avellon, Illinois
PS, it is still regestered in Ohio under ' ON2 IT ' as the show car doesn't have
any catalytic
converters...but who cares!

In an article I read in "Delorean Gold Portfolio" entitled "Delorean:Living
the Dream," it states on p.121, 3rd column from left, "...it's all vented disc
brakes provide outstanding fade free stopping capabilities." This is a
European article, but as far as I know, all Deloreans came with the same, solid
rotor. Can anybody verify whether this article is accurate or not? (I
think it may be just a type-o)

In another article, which I can't seem to find the page number at the moment,
it discussed adaptions to the suspension made by Porsche on European
model(s). I will pass on the page number once I find it again, but does anybody
know about high-performance suspension modifications performed by
Porsche?

In many places I have seen the following oil filters listed for the Delorean:
Puroflux LS410A, Perolator PER17, Fram PH16, and AC PF13.

I bought the AC PF13 today, and it did not fit!. The overall diameter appears
about 1/8" too wide to clear whatever the doohicky is that protrudes next to
the Oil filter. Anyone else have problems with the PF13???

prototype

Although I already had the original Delorean Portfolio, I finally got around
to ordering "Delorean Gold Portfolio" from Motorbooks International. I
mainly ordered it because I was hoping there would be information about the
factory turbo systems by Legend Industries, which there was (although not
very much). Besides the UNBELIEVABLE performance (0-60 in about 5 sec,
150+
MPH), it is also an incrediably beautiful system. After reading about it, my
thoughts were confirmed that this is more than just a bolt-on system.
Serious engineering work went into this system and, as one article points out,
everything about the engine was replaced except the bottom end and the
camshafts. I was hoping somebody out there would know more about these
engines such as what EXACTLY about the engine was replaced (I suspect
pistons, but what else?), how much PSI the system operates on (I suspect
around 12), and any other information. Does any body know what happened
to
all the engineering work that went into this system? Warren and Stephen:
Did KAPAC obtain the rights to this system when they bought out DMC and
if
so, do you (or would you) plan to make it available again? If KAPAC didn't
obtain the design, who did?

Luckily there are no specific vehicle inspections where I live, but if this thing

Hello all,

Since a few months, I've copied (downloaded) every mailing list from Vol 1 #
001 till Vol 2 # 238. I opened several "Microsoft Word" documents titled as
"Mechanics", "A/C", "Brakes", "Interior" and so on...... Then I highlight the
text of the subjects on the Mailing List and I click on the "copy" option. After
this I open the concerned Word document and I paste the text. The result is
that if I want to review what DMCers found as a solution for a said problem, I
open the distinct document and ... I read it. I am actually planning to print all
of those documents in order for me to get a kind of a technical manual in
addition to the official one I already have.

I would like to know any comment on my way of working. Sorry for my poor
english (French canadian)...

Subject: Dave's - Brakes Pt 2 /cooling

To correct the low pedal mentioned yesterday, I readjusted and loc-tited the
stud in the power brake booster. Worked great - brakes are back to normal. I
didn't get to the clutch fluid yet (I ran out of brake fluid and the places that
sell the Castrol stuff aren't open on Sunday).

I did perform the "Radio Shack Taillight Upgrade" (ref DML #125 and #220)
and they now work a lot better. I feel a lot better about driving the car now
that I have brake lights. I opened up all the access panels under the hood
(trunk?) and did a quick inspection, other than general griminess and a small
coolant leak at one of those 32 hose clamps things look OK. I am getting tired
of being whacked by the hood when I knock the broomstick out- maybe I'll
have to break down and get those struts after all.

Today's question: What is the recommended procedure for DRAINING the
cooling system? I presume the main drain is simply undoing the lower (pass.
side) radiator hose, but does anyone routinely drain the engine as well? The
block drain on the driver side seems almost unreachable without removing
the exhaust system. This seems to be one thing not covered in the tech
manuals. . . .

To be continued. . .

The Jan or December 84 issue of Road and Track has a brief article about the
car. One of editors was invited to test drive the car after the fall of DMC and
death of the project. That article says that DMC's fall led to the fall of legend,
and that the designs were sold to another company (formed by Legend people)
in the event that production of the DeLorean was resumed.

Of course, I believe that Stephen still is trying to sell #502 for the current
owner. What else comes with the car is anyone's guess.

Go buy your oil filters from your local Volvo dealer. They fit, but it is a tight

As of Monday AM, I have two people interested in gray covers and one
person interested in black covers. If you emailed me and I have not
responded, I probably did not receive your email EMAIL ME at
espey(AT)dmcnews.com!

Cutoff for orders is NEXT Monday, May 12th. On Monday all interested
parties will be emailed with the exact cost (now about $575 based on the above
orders) and I've got to have your check by Friday, May 16th. Delivery will be
be about two weeks (these are all made-to-order) and will be shipped when I
get back from Belfast at the end of May.

For those who missed it, this is the initial information that I posted last
week...

>The Delorean seats have a "slip-on" leather and vinyl covering for seat
bottom and back, while the vinyl covered rear panel of the seats is screwed
on. On most cars, the rear panel is in good shape, but 15 years of heat,
moisture, and wear have taken their toll on the bottom and back. I recently
had my seats recovered and the diference in smell and appearance is amazing
- it makes the interior look and smell new.

>As I mentioned earlier, the color is dead on, and while the grain pattern on
the vinyl is close, it's not exact. I enter my DeLorean in the DOA concours,
and I expect to have no problem with these. For those that are interested, last
tie I looked, the DOA concours rules are available for download at their web
site.

>Though the covers do "slip on", installation is best done by someone with
upholstery experience because it's not like the slip on covers from
Target/Wal-Mart - these are fitted tight and use hog rings. My upholstery
shop charged $100 to install them on my seats.

>We also made a new shift boot for my car as well. With a reinforced metal
frame, it improved the appearance of my car and cured the annoying "floppy"
shift boot.

>In either black or grey, the cost for a PAIR of seat covers (seat bottom and seat
back, rear screw-on panel is NOT included) is $590 plus shipping. Shift boots
with the reinforced frame will run about $70. Depending on the number of
actual orders for seat covers and shift boots, the price **will** be lower, but I
need to know how many of each color are needed. Delivery time is about
three weeks from the time of order. I intend to place the order before leaving
for EuroFest...

This sounds like the cold start injector is not working. There is a seventh
injector in the Bosch fuel injection system for starting the engine cold. It
injects extra fuel into the intake until a temperature sensor shuts it off. The
injector is on the left (drivers) side of the engine near the oil fill cap. It has a
cable plugged into the top of it. Of course, it could also be the fuel
accumulator.

The radio in the DeLorean is supported by the nuts on the tuning/volume

makes this much easier. The radio will fit through the the hole for the vents.

A yellow DMC was mentioned in the previous issue. If anyone could obtain

On the subject of horns, I got tired of friends laughing at the stock DMC

I unbolted them and installed an air horn system! One day I encouuntered

Oh, by the way, I don't have a problem with people wanting to race me. Here
in Yuppyland, the social elite are too busy maintaining their EGO to race an
"outdated" car like mine! They just pass me right by, getting 1 mile per gallon

car will be worthless when its as old as mine! De Loreans are far superior to
any new car if they can survive the TEST OF TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Hello

I developed a starting problem today.

I replaced the fuelpump, and filter. The accumulator is on the way. The car
started fine, and after I cleaned the micro switch and throttle assembly the car
ran like it was new. Untill today. After I shut it off, and tried to restart it about
5 minutes later it would hesitate, and spudder. Then NOTHING. The car sat
there in the parking lot for about 1 hour. When I tried to restart it it barely
started, and ran ruff before it died. The car is now at my DMC tech. Thank
God for AAA.

Any Ideas what happened?

the edge of the board where all the wires enter. It sits perpendicular to the
wires. It was 2 leads. ?????

The diagram I have shows that to be a "thermal trip", but it doesn't show any
electrical values. I replaced the whole unit with a "LockZilla" unit a year ago
and have no complaints. P.J. Grady handles these units, I think. If he doesn't,
I'll try to find their phone # for you.
