It's a fair deal if.....all of the updates are in, don't forget to
check the trailing
arm bolts, is the radiator steel or plastic, does it have all the
proper stuff, radio
ect, ect? How are the shocks and the rest of the suspension? They
may need some work after 100Ks. Congratulations, enjoy, and welcome
to the wild world of DMC. Joe :>}

A couple of things to look at:
1. Fuel pump suction hose -- these deteriorate over time and will
partially collapse under hard suction, such as when you are
accelerating. I recently replaced the fuel pump, which was performing
marginally but had the same sort of problem under acceleration that
you describe until I changed the fuel suction hose.
2. Electrical -- loose connections at the pump which allow
intermittent running of the pump will cause the engine to stumble when
you are calling for lots of fuel.
Hope this helps.

Hi there! I am a new owner of an '81 model DMC and would just like to =
tell you that I am so glad to find out that there are others who are as =
enthused about the Delorean as I am. I got the car from a friend who's =
father recently passed away. He is not the enthusiast that his father =
was so I was able to add the DMC to my collection for a mere $5000.00! =
The car only has minor problems such as being stored for the past eight =
years with half a tank of gas in it. Are you ready for this, the car =
has 15,000 miles on it! The interior is good and the body is perfect. =
I am a drag racer by hobby so this is a little out of my scope so I'll =
be watching and asking for advice. Thanks again for the inclusion into =
your group!

That $15,000 figure includes the purchase price. I bought mine for
$9,000 and have invested nearly $5,000 more in it to date. I
anticipate it would take several thousand more to have it completely
restored, versus just being nice and road-worthy like I think it is
now. I hope that clarifies some of the misconceptions of my earlier
statements.

I rest my case in a way again. The car has had $14,900 invested in it.
Just short of my $15,000 predicition.

I can picture exactly what you are saying, Rob, as I have taken my
sender out and put it back in. My gasket is installed properly and it
seals very well.
The seepage I described in my earlier post is through the electrical
connections on the top of the sender. It is JUST A FEW DROPS oozing
out along the wires. To observe it, I need to fill the tank and the
filler tube to the top, then sit and watch the sender unit for several
minutes. Eventually I can see tiny drops of gas forming on the top of
the sender.
Now that I have put epoxy over the electrical connections the seepage
is a very, very small quantity of gasoline. But it is still enough
for my fiancee to smell gas fumes!
It looks like my sender's electrical connections were sealed badly
right from the factory. Has anyone else observed this, or is mine the
only one?

We have reproduced the DMC window sticker as found on the car when it
was new showing the options and the $25000 price.. If you display
your car this can add some rare information about the car. We can
reproduce these customized for individual cars. Cost is $40.00 to add
the shipping, year, serial number, dealer, option, etc. and print your
individual window sticker.=20
The one we printed for the 97=99 Delorean Time Machine is awsume!

Hi, i'm new to the newsgroup, and i was just wondering if anyone new
of where I could purchase a small model of the DeLorean. I'm not
looking for anything specific, and even a model of the Back To The
Future version would be great. Please let me know if anyone has info
on this. Thanks
