Does anyone have a copy of Johnny Carson's t.v. show that aired a few
hours
after his DeLorean broke down?
What did he say about the incident?

It was interesting to read Martins comments.
Ah, I wish that the 200HP were so easily obtained. Living in an area where
there is no inspection for emission controls, I have no "cats", have
driven
with the lambda both connected and disconnected. I have seperate exhaust
manifolds for each bank of cylinders and I use rather small turbo
mufflers. I don't produce 200 HP. Oh, and by the way, I run 6 lbs. of
boost through twin turbos, as well.
Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Unfortunately, I am not yet a DeLorean owner, but I am on the lookout for
one. They are not a very common car here (I have only ever seen one and
that
was over 10 years ago), so I just want to find out how many there are in
Oz,
where they are, and how much they are selling for. I also wanted to know
if
there are any outstanding stolen VIN's I should look out for. Australia
would be a perfect place for them 'cos we're so far away from anything!!!
Any hints on what to check when inspecting one would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi,
The poster asked about was "Blizzard of the Eighties" by Clint
Clemens. It was published by "Graphique de France".
I've tried them and they are most uncooperative even though I
originally bought mine from them and was one of their dealers.
No idea where the unsold inventory might have gone.

Subject: DML: V6 Hop-Up
One potential easy hop-up for the V6 is to get the newer L-Jetronic
injection system from a Peugeot or Volvo. A full motor from a 88-90 Volvo
would give you 2849cc, L-Jetronic, and 170+ HP.

The die to mold DMC keys is finished and produces molded plastic key tops
that are identical to the originals. Key blanks (with out molded tops)
made
by the same company that did at least some of the originals was found and
are supplying blanks (from England).
A dozen test key have been produced and are ready for testing. To date two
different VINs have been keyed with test keys w/molded tops and work
perfectly.
When I am satisfied that every DMC Key that is made is with in spect's DMC
list names will be contacted by e-mail with ordering and payment
instructions.
There will be two ways to get these DMC keys.
1. DMC key-blanks
2. DMC Key-duplicate*
The cost will be $20 per set of two per VIN# for the first round.
Once all the List and DOA members have keys or the demand drop[s] Then
They
will be available on request.
Remember that these Keys are being made by hand a set at a time, this
project is not ment to be a commerical operation, so please don't request
two dozen key blanks for re-sale, thats not what this is all about.if you
have mis-matched door and IGN keys, we can work something out by e-mail.
* If your DMC-12 does not have oem-door and ignition locks, there is no
way
to know if the blanks we have will work at all. to get around this
problem,
if you are not sure about your VIN's locks, get a duplicate made locally
and send the duplicate/s you have had made. (do not sent any original key
or the only key you have to us.) Your duplicate will be put into the die
and the plastic top molded to it.

More HP but the wrong engine block, crankcase, and oil pan. There's not
all
that much room in the lower end of the DeLorean engine compartment.
There's
a DeLorean with a Gail Banks modified, twin turbo, Buick Grand National
V-6
putting out over 500 HP that's been around for years. I've seen it on at
least one occasion in Don Steger's DeLorean Motor Center in Garden Grove,
Calif. To get proper lubrication they had to resort to a dry sump system
with oil tanks in the quarter panel pontoons. Even with this the engine
cover had to be left off as the engine sat too high. There's been a lot of
talk about engine swaps and transmissions in this news letter. Don did
have
bell housing adaptors to match both Buick V-6's and small block Chevy
V-8's
to the DeLorean 5 speed. I don't know wether or not he still carries them.
Several years ago there was a group in, I belive Pennsylvania, assembling
replicas of Ford GT40's for which parts were manufactured in England. They
matched small block Ford V-8's to the same Renault 5 speed transaxle that
is
in the DeLorean. They seemed to hold up with horsepowers in the 250 to 275
range.

Brandon,
This phone # dates back to 1984 but you could still try it. A fellow named
Craig Haglin at Craigs Colorado Cars did conversions like the one you are
doing. He said the only change was to raise the plate that holds the
shifter
in the shifter box location as the five speed lever and cable assembly
need
more room. The bell crank mounts the same as the automatic and the engine
and tranny mounts are the same on both transmissions.

As I said, this is all info from 1984 and the area code for the phone may
be
different as some of Colorado got a new area code a couple of years ago.
Hope this helps.

I am in the process of changing out my right angle drive. My question is
how
do you get the Speedo Dr ret ring ( part # 106938) out of the large nut?
Then
how do you get the new drive into place without messing up new Speed Dr
ret
ring? With almost 100,000 miles the right angle drive bit the dust. Also
is
it worth it to add the right angle drive cover (rubber boot)? I just got
it
back from the body shop, (see past listing of accident, three months ago)
and
its good to have my ride home. Now I have all sorts of little things to
keep
my busy.
