David,
To my surprise I found a battery for the DeLorean at walmart. Just look
for one of those part computers by the batterys at walmart and you will see
the name DeLorean in the list.
My DeLorean has had the same battery in it since the day it was bought in > 81. It will no longer hold a charge. What battery do you reccomend? When we ran the Deloreans at the Dyno Days event a few weeks ago, the dyno runs were done in third gear starting at 2500 rpm and run up to 5000 rpm. The speed recorded on the dyno at 5000 rpm in 3rd gear was 103 mph. The cars redline at 6500 rpm.

The address was 2055 Southeast Main Street on the corner of Main and Gillette in Irvine. As you''re coming off the freeway, turn north then right on Main St. It's only a block or so on the left on the corner. I used to work there as the Records and Office Manager so if any of you know the location of former employees, please send them my e-mail Sherry Musser

The DuPont Registry magazine currently features the 100 greatest cars of all time. The DMC-12 comes in at #63, saying it is unlike any other car on the list. And John DeLorean's '65 Pontiac GTO comes in at #95.

Did anyone see the show who wants to be a millionare last night. One of the questions was "What kind of car did Marty McFly travel back in time in the movie "Back to the Future." Thankfully the person got the answer right.
I find it anoying that everyone knows the car from the move, but other then that, most people dont know anything about the car. If the movie hadent been made, I wonder how it would effect the value of the car. On one hand fewer people would know about the car, lowering demand. But the movie makes the Delorean look unreliable, which causes an unrealistic view of the car.
Of course if they never made the movie, we wouldent have to hear the "wheres the flux capasitor?" questions. I wonder if people who own 80's Trans Am's get Knight Rider questions?

Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Here are the initial summary results and times using the Cartest2000 computer model. Available at cartest2000.com.
Engine 0-60 1/4 mile speed top speed V-8 6.2 14.7 94.4 143 4 speed auto Supercharged 8.0 15.9 87.3 138 5 speed stick Single turbo 7.2 15.3 90.3 139 5 speed stick Stock D 8.9 17.0 82.7 124 5 speed stick Stock automatic 9.2 16.8 81.0 123 3 speed automatic
Yes according to the model, the automatic stock is quicker than the stick. Don't known why. Could be shifting times allowed in the program.
Note: this model assumes parabolic horsepower and torque curves based on single peak outputs and rpms. My next step will be to imput individual HP and torque curves and see what the results are.
I would have expected the supercharged car to be quicker in the 0-60 than the turbo. Since clearly in the dyno testing the turbo came on later.
The only assumption made in my input was HP and Torque loss for the drive trains. The Sticks cars were 30 HP and 30 ft/lbs torque. This was based on the wheel output compared to the listed engine HP. e. g.
130 - 100 at wheel == 30 HP loss to drive train.
The automatic cars were 40 HP and 40 ft/lb torque. again based on the test results and list values.
Many Thankx to W. Wilson for recommending Cartest2000. It facilitated these initial results.

Next year we are looking to schedule another dyno day and a day to test the real world quarter mile times at Route 66 Drag raceway.
By next year Jason is going to have more work done on his super charged D and I will be adding fuel injection to the V-8.
Since we all do about 90 in the quarter mile, and don't get under 10s, we won't need roll cages. The cost for the quarter mile run is about $15.00 per car.
Let me know how many of you would be interest. The quarter mile racing would be a wednesday or friday EVENING. That is when they have open racing. I will try to see if we can get some special arrangements.

Jonathan,
Although the illuminated key was a nice idea, they just don't work. If you can make the light work you will find that within a few days, maybe hours, the light will cease to function.

No glue required. Just peal back the edges and be sure that they are completely wrapped all around the pedal.

Just one question. The factory carpets are molded to follow the contours of the body, how does one take regular flat remnant carpet and duplicate the factory carpet contours. If the factory contours are not duplicated the installation will look pretty shabby; wouldn't it ?

We don't have any information on Dupont test cars, we do however, have factory Bulletin ST-2-2 / 82 Painting Stainless Steel Body Panels. This six page bulletin contains a section concerning the Dupont Imron product with complete directions on how to prepare and paint the DeLorean stainless steel panels.

Hey List,
I was surprised no one else saw this mention of the DeLorean. On last nights "Who wants to be a Millionaire" on ABC, the question for winning I believe it was $4000 was "What kind of car took Michael J. Fox back in time in the movie Back to the Future?" And of course the answer was the first answer A. DeLorean. They had 3 other cars that would have nothing to do with the movie, I believe one of them was a Buick. Just thought this was something that you guys on the list would be interested in knowing. Thanks a lot.
Later, Nick VIN#1852.....Sorry, not for sale anymore, now I am doing a complete tear-down and frame-up restoration, wish me luck!!!!

Erik,
At least they told you. I bought my second Delorean (#2528) earlier this y= ear after having sold my original car (#1534 ?) a number of years ago. I c= alled too and requested a catalog. I was actually considering them for ser= vice at that time as I live in San Diego. I got the same questions and was= told it would be maybe(?) a month for a catalog to arrive. Never heard fr= om them, then when I found this group I read a bit and realized I would nev= er get the catalog. I own my own business too and wonder why D-1 does what= they do. I'm grateful for the customers I have but I don't own them... my = staff and I just try our best to please them. =
Anyway, since then I found Don Steger in Garden Grove who's been a great he= lp. Warren & James at DMC Houston have been great, and I'm really happy wi= th the 'zilla and the service at PJ Gradys.
