Read with interest your comments on coloured cars. At the Euro
Expo in Belfast 2 years ago an emerald green (local car) and
a beautiful red example from Holland turned up. The dutch car
was turbo charged and lowered and really was stunning and very quick.
To all those of you lucky enough to be of to Vegas for this years
expo have a good time.
P.S. I have a copy of the orginal plans of the factory
layout in Dunmurry, Belfast, if anybody wants a
copy I might be able to get a few run off.

I have just made arrangements to take delivery of a 1983 standard
DMC-12 VIN: SCEDT26T9DD017065 in May. It has 38 000 kms (about 24 000
miles) on it and is in pristine condition with a couple of small exceptions
(some hardly noticeable small dents, and a little corrosion on the rims).
It runs and drives perfectly, and the leather interior looks brand new. I
paid $25 000 CDN (about $18k US) for it, and now I have a couple of
questions:
First, did I get an all right deal? I did shop around a bit, and it seemed
like a good price considering what was available (about 5 different cars
in this area, in various states of repair). Unfortunately I did not
discover this mailing list until after I decided that I had to have a
De Lorean.
Second, what does the VIN tell me? Does the 17000 series # imply that
the car was not assembled in Dunmurray, or just that I have a model
intended for Canadian export. How many of this series were produced?
Finally, I noticed that the headliner might be starting to pull away a tiny
bit in the corners. Is there any way to halt this process, and if not,
how expensive is the fix?
I can hardly wait for the spring of '96!
Thanks,

My wife and I made it back from Las Vegas fine, with our only casualty being my
speedo cable. It was a lot of fun finally being able to a put a face with the
many names that I have come to know over the past month running the DeLorean
Mailing List! Next year, I hope to meet all of those that couldn't make it this
year to Vegas!
For those of you that didn't make it to the expo, I think you missed a good one.
The Tech seminars Friday morning (Fuel sytems by Ed Bernstein of Delorean One,
Doors and Windows by Stephen Wynne of DeLorean Motor Company and Cluch and
Brakes by Rob Grady of PJ Grady) were well planned and informative. All three
were willing and did answer a multitude of questions both on and off the
subjects of their "tech talks". The slot tournament was a great deal of fun
(even though I didn't win). Robert Lamrock (producer of the "Back from the
Future" documentary about DMC) was on hand with a film crew for another show
about the factory, the car and the owners group.
Saturday's drive through the Valley of Fire was just awe-inspring, even for
someone who lives in the desert year-round anyway! Bruce Benson from Minnesota
was the only one to get a ticket on the trip, and a collection was taken up that
covered the $75 fine. Jack Balderston (editor of DeLorean World magazine) had a
blowout, but thankfully there were no damages or injuries.
The Product Fair Saturday afternoon was a big success, PJ Grady, DeLorean One,
DeLorean Motor Center, Swedish Auto Service, KAPAC, and several other vendors
were on hand. Whether you wanted DMC Floormats or DeLorean phone cards, DeLorean
books or even a clutch, it was all there. Many people stopped by and checked out
the Internet conection we had set up, and I think we may see this list grow some
more over the next few weeks.
I've left out a great deal, but I'm sure others have their own thoughts on the
expo and I hope they share them with the list soon.
