Subject: What's a dealer sign worth?

The subject pretty much says it all, but I can add that the sign is in very nice
shape, and all the lights work. DMC had 340-some dealers, so there can't be very
many of these around, but I've recently been offered the opportunity to buy one,
and wonder if I should get it while I have the chance. Anyone ever bought one,
or bought one recently? If you had the opportunity to buy one, what would you
give for it? Do you have one now that you want to sell, and how much do you want
for it? Any responses appreciated...

James

Robert,

It's difficult for me to say specifically, being that I am 5'8", I fit fine.
However, John DeLorean himself is 6'4" (I believe - somebody correct me if
I am wrong), and one of his primary goals was to allow a large person to fit
comfortably. I feel like the car has quite a bit if interior space in spite of
it's small and low stature. You may feel like you're "laying down" in the
drivers seat, though.

And when you have to have one - you simply have to have one!

Subject: Insurance for a new owner (hopefully)

Hi! My name is Chase Clark and I am hoping to take delivery on a 1981
DeLorean in two weeks, that is providing I can find full-coverage insurance
for it within the state of Missouri.

So far, only one of about 15 companies I have talked to locally is willing
to write full coverage (although nearly all will write liability ONLY). The
one company is AllState, but their premiums come out to more than $2,500
per year, which is outrageous. I have a perfect driving record and pay a
fourth of that annually on my Porsche 924 through AAA (which has rejected
the DeLorean without comment).

I am curious as to what insurance companies (and states) other owners are
using and how reasonable/unreasonable their rates are? Also, I previously
saw a mention here of a group policy negotiated by the DeLorean Owners
Association and was wanting to learn what it covers and the estimated cost?

Any help would be appreciated! I desperately want to purchase this vehicle,
but there is no way I will pay $2,500+ in premiums per year.

Thanks!

Chase

I've heard that next year's convention is in Nashville, Tennesse. Is this
correct? I certainly hope so, as Back to the Future...The Fan Club will
definitely be represented if it is indeed that close to us! Thanks!
