Chase,

Check again with allstate. I am 28, married, live in a semi-rural area
just outside of Sacramento, CA. I pay less than $400 / year to Allstate to
insure the DeLorean. I have it insured as a pleasure vehicle, and promise
to drive no more than 4k miles / year. The discount for having it as an
extra vehicle is so steep that it just might pay to have another beater car
and insure that as your primary vehicle (my regular vehicle is a truck).

Good Luck,
-Andy

I'd strongly suggest anyone thinking about turbo DeLoreans to get a copy of
TURBOCHARGERS by Hugh MacInnes. It's soft covered and is pretty readily
available. I belive Classic Motor Books usually carries it. I know Turbo
City in Orange California carries it. There are some things regarding the
addition of a turbocharger that you should be aware of. I wrote an article
about turbos in the 1991 Volume 8, Number 1 Issue of DeLOREAN WORLD. I'd
suggest you look it over. The biggest culprit is pre-ignition and the related
stress this causes to the engine. If you understand what's happening in that
situation and take steps to avoid it, a turbo car should last as long as a
non turbo car. If you ignore the pre-ignition and alow you engine to rattle
away under boost you'll break rings at the least and melt pistons at the
worst. Don't let this scare you out of enjoying the extra HP turbos can give
you. Just learn about what you're dealing in the same manner you'd prepare to
fly or sail.

Subject: Gold DeLoreans

To the best of my knowledge, one of the two Amex cars is in the Harrahs
museum in Reno, Nevada and the other is still in the bank lobby in Snyder,
Texas. There have been rumors of other gold cars, and I have a photo and
chemical analysis reports of a gold car with black interior that was owned
by a physician in New York in the mid-eighties. I also spoke with a couple
at the expo over the weekend who saw a gold car in an old dealership that
had been turned into a warehouse in Greenwich Village back in '89. They
were pretty sure that the car they saw had a brown interior, and assuming
they remembered correctly, that would have to make it the one now in
Harrahs since the Snyder car has been in the bank since it was delivered
back in '81.

Anyone else know anything on this?

James

Well...I'm running through Geiko with full coverage on my 1981
DeLorean here in Washington.
I pay a little over $1,200 for mine annually, for which they
require I pay monthly.
I am a 23 year old, unmarried, non-smoking male, currently in
college, so I expect mine to decrease, at least slightly within the next
few years.

My insurance company is State Farm. My current policy for my DeLorean
has a 5000 mile annual limit, $100 collision deductable, for about
$280/6 months. I suspend coverage for about 5 months out of the
year. The location is rural Minnesota.

Are they the DMC logo mats? If so, I'll take them.

James;

Good to finally meet you in person at the expo. I've seen two signs for sale by
two different owners, one in Delorean World and one in Hemmings. One was $3,000
and the other $3,500. I don't really know what they look like, but I'll bet
they'd look cool in a rec room.

Well, what can I say? I'm 6'4" and about 200lbs. With the seat back as far
as it goes and reclined I'm quite comfortable for a medium trip. For long
distances I would strongly recommend an aftermarket cruise-control. Anyone
have a good one? I am going to install one this winter.
