I saw Everen when he was on the Personal F/X Collectibles show, and he
showed one of these signs. If I remember correctly, he said that it was
worth something like $13,000.00.

The angle drive on mine acts a little funky every now and then. My cheap
solution is to take out the angle drive (but don't remove it completely),
and squirt WD-40 everywhere. Especially where the gears are. Somehow, it
does the trick.
If this doesn't work, you may need a complete new angle drive, or
something's not right in the speedo-cable.

Subject: Re Angle Drives
On the way to Las Vegas my angle drive gave out. Actually it was the short
speedometer cable that runs through the front spindle. I just made up a new
cable and replaced it.
If the angle drive is frozen and results in the cable breaking you can repair
the drive if you're carefull. It's a sealed unit but if you carefully pry the
crimped end open you can remove the worm gears and bushings. If they are just
dry, lube them and put the whole thing back together with a new cable
installed. Gently tap the crimp edge back in place and it's as good as new.
The gears are rarely broken. The bushings may need replacing but with a
little searching you probably can find some that will work. The most common
cause of failure is lack of lubrication.

Subject: Clutch review
Last night I picked up my DeLorean from Foreign Car Specialists where I
had the Centerforce clutch installed. I thought you may be interested in
my opinions on this aftermarket clutch for the DeLorean.
The Centerforce clutch has an entirely different feel from the original.
On my car the original clutch engaged very gradually (some would say
mushy) while the pedal force required to operate it was in my mind
excessive. After spending any amount of time in traffic with the
original clutch I was about ready for some physical therapy to work out
the muscle cramps in my left leg (I sometimes wonder if my left leg is
bulked up compared to my right one).
The centerforce clutch has a much better action but takes a little
getting used to. The pedal force required to operate it is much less
while the cluch engages in a much more positive way (less gradual). I
admit to a couple of "Jack Rabbit" starts the first time I drove the car
afterwards, but I really enjoy the more sporty/aggressive feel of the
more positive clutch engagement. Because of the more positive engagement
I would presume that the clutch would last longer.
Overall I like the feel of the Centerforce clutch better than the
original.

Subject: Idle speed fluctuation
In the past week or so, my idle speed has begun to fluctuate. "The books" say it
should be around 750rpm, if memory serves, and also says that it is not
adjustable. Now my car, when cold, idles around 1400rpm, once it warms up, its
closer to 2000rpm. I can "goose" the accelerator and it will drop back down to
around 950 or 1000.
I am using the same gas (Chevron 92 octane with Techron). Shortly after the idle
started fluctuating, I did change the oxygen sensor, but that has had no effect
on the problem. I am debating about spendig the $150 on a new idle speed
regulator, but I don't like the idea of "guessing" at a cure. Anyon else
experienced this and know what the fix might be?
Thanks!
