I was wondering if it is possible to get the front grille with the DMC logo
from one of the parts warehouses... I think it would make a nifty addition to
my dorm wall. Am I correct to assume this would be a high-priced item?

Just to get everyone calibrated on the price of left front fenders -- $3150 is a
pretty darn good price (provided the fender is new). Although spares were
manufactured before closure of the DMCL plant to keep the car supplied with
parts for an estimated life of twenty years, by some clerical error, there were
no spares manufactured for the left and right front fenders. As far as I
understand, when the plant closed, about 40 left fenders were located in the
stockpile and on the order of 100 right fenders. The price of left fenders is
often around $4000, and some of the left fenders for sale out there are not new.
It is true that your DMC is worth a lot more disassembled than it is assembled
and I recently talked to a DMC supply place that was disassembling a DMC-12 with
318 miles on it for parts because it was worth 2 times its value in parts.
Depending on the severity of the damage, I have heard of amazing things done to
straighten stainless panels. Those that know how to work with the metal can
apparently take a crumpled piece of junk and make it like new. Do not attempt
taking your damaged panel to a regular bodyshop for restoration -- you will
likely get it damaged beyond any hope of restoration. I have a club member in my
chapter that recently had his left front fender wrecked, and he is having it
restored at DeLorean One. In his case, it is probably not a good deal as the
rental car charges he is racking up while his panel is getting restored combined
with the fact that he is not doing any of the work himself will likely end up
costing him more than a new panel.

Dear Yoshi,

PH/FAX: 360-943-2497. I just talked to him and he seems to have the parts
you're looking for.

May the parts be with you, Chris

Subject: Interior light fixtures

My forward interior light has finally given up the ghost. No amount of
bending/taping/soldering/melting will make it work again. Ed at DeLorean One
claims to be "indefinitely" out of stock, and I admit that I was not to thrilled
about paying $40 for one. Has anyone found a "livable" alternative? For now I am
just going to swap the front and rear fixtures, as I never really used the rear
light anyway.

BTW, October 25 is "officially" the first day of Autumn here in Phoenix. I say
that because this morning it was finally cool enough on the drive to work that I
turned the heat on in the DeLorean. I am glad that I do not live in a *really*
cold environment, as I think the airlfow leaves a great deal to be desired.

James
