On 10/10/97 3:54 PM, Mike Substelny shared these fine thoughts...

>As I mentioned a few days ago, the Automotive Hall of Fame just opened
>this week in Dearborn, Michigan. You can now view a list of the inductees
(SNIP)
>As speculated, John Z. DeLorean is conspicuously absent. In addition,

(SNIP)
>Reading the inductee list, there are a bunch of inductees with a lot less
>fame than John Z DeLorean!

I have no idea how the nomination/induction process works at the AHOF,
but I believe it is the duty of enthusiast groups to make very effort to
ensure that their candidate/namesake/whatver we'll call JZD gets the nod.

Most will agree that JZD has a "black eye" in the eyes of John Q.
Citizen. Some of this may be deserved, but IMO a far greater portion
should be attributed to the media.

Is it possible to get "our man" inducted? I think so. I mean, even Nixon,
the only president (so far) to resign the highest office in tha land, was
able to rehab his reputation. Thoughts, ideas? Anyone...anyone?

Let's no feel too bad, Enzo Ferrari isn't there either !

We could start a petition to induct good old John, any takers ?

I think they're totaly wrong. The muscle car was invented in the '50's. In
'55 Chrysler brought out the 300 series and the race was on. Then came the
Plymouth Fury, Dodge 500, fuel injected Chevys and Pontiacs, Supercharged
Fords and Studebakers, the list goes on. Caroll Shelby was still in his
racing coveralls at that point. It only points out the fact that history
is
easily re-written by hype in this day and age.

This is a bit hard to describe, but: Whenever I try to accelerate =
moderately or quickly, the car starts to shake. It feels like the car =
gives up power several instances per second anytime I step on the gas =
any harder than lightly. This problem started about a week ago and =
appears to only occur after the engine is warm. I already tried =
injector cleaner, but that didn't solve the problem. If you have any =
questions that would clarify this annoying problem, please ask me.

Thanks for your help.

Dear DML,
If Mr. DeLorean's new cars do become produced. Do you think our

As a DeLorean owner and BTTF fan, I have seen just all of the DeLoreans
that are around the backlot. And every single one of them are in bad
shape.

The one at the BTTF Ride, many problems. Things just glued back on,
such as the window.

A Part III DMC with whitewall tires somewhere on the backlot, terrible
condition. The worst one I believe. The front grill is missing,
also some headlights.

The Amblin Office, not bad, could use a wash and some minor repair
work. A few dings and dents.

Universal ought to take better care of the DMC's. Although,
rumor has it that Stephen Wynne, of DMC Houston had just
recently taken a couple of BTTF DMC's from Universal Hollywood,
or Florida to restore them and get them working again.

Hi all,
It's with great regret that I need to sell my DMC. It's in great
running shape; I drive it every day to/from work. Has only 51k miles on
it. It won't be ready to be shown until the weekend, but I wanted to give
people on the list a head start in knowing about this before I place ads.
Asking $14,500 obo. Email me if interested.

Hi all,
I'm so wound up at work today that I forgot to mention details
about the car.

VIN #10213 ('82)
No style lines or gas flap.
Has hood tag.
Has a Panasonic CD player. Car did not come with original radio.
Has aftermarket rear speakers behind the rear net (not installed by me)
Tires are only a year old.
Fuel pump and filter replaced by PJ Grady
Water pump replaced
Very little rust on the frame (nothing substantial)
Comes with parts manual, service manual, PJ Grady's service manual,
original manual and other original papers, original leather holder,
DeLorean World Tech notes, 5 issues of DW.
Door struts are in excellent shape, but cooler weather is making them sag
a bit lately.
All 4 air speeds work
Relay compartment fixed by PJ Grady
Stainless in great shape.

Now for the flip side:
Passenger side door not aligned correctly. Closes fine though.
Environment control flaky.
Interior lights work, but don't turn on with doors.
Front fascia was repainted by previous owner. Doesn't match exactly.
Car was rear-ended, but fixed.

That's all I can think of. Email me at starman(AT)cnj.digex.net if there are
any questions. Rob Grady's familiar with the car if you'd want to talk to
him about it also.

My '81 DMC-12 was in awesome condition before it got rear-ended in July
this
year. I would like to bring it forward to the insurance company that my
car
has been devalued. How can I do this?
