Stephen Wynne of De Lorean Motor Company will be attending the NEC Classic Car Show in Birmingham, England this November 6 and 7.
The DeLorean Owenrs Club will have a spectacular display, with about 10 cars on display.
Owners that wish to meet or consult with Stephen during his visit to England are invited to call or email to set up a time.
We will be posting our complete "De Lorean Motor Company Traveling Road Show" itinerary next month, but it appears that our first stop in the year 2000 will be at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona from January 19-23.

Hello all, I found something interesting. An ad for Walker mufflers on the back of the January 1979 Napa "Parts Pups" magazine. It has a photo of the original DeLorean prototype. Since this publication was only for Napa employees, Im sure any remaining copies of this are rare. My father got it when it was new when he worked for Tenneco automotive. One of the lines is "We make it sound as good as it looks." I just thought this find is intresting Andrew 4194

Duke If you have a dwell meter ($35.00) you can get the air fuel (AF) ratio pretty close. 1. Find the diagnostic plug. On the left rear fire wall. Attach the ground from the well meter to pin # 2 on the plug. Attach the other wire from the dwell meter to pin # 3 on the diagnostic plug. Set the meter on Dwell.
2. Crank the engine. Let it get warm. This is so that the oxygen sensor is
sending a good signal to the Lambda Control unit.
When the engine is cold the computer sends a fixed signal to the frequency
valve. You can see this fixed signal on the dwell meter. The read out on the
dwell meter will be 60% duty cycle or about 54 on the four cylinder scale.
When the engine gets hot the computer starts looking at the oxygen sensor
and adjusting the frequency valve to adjust the exhanst level. If the dwell
meter needle swings high (60% to 70% or 54 to 63 on the four cylinder
scale)on the scale when the engine is warm the mixture is set to lean. Turn
the AF screw on the distrubter clockwise just a little. Remove the allen
wrench from the AF screw and let the system settle and look at the dwell
meter reading. If the needle swings low (29% to 37% or 26 to 33 on the four
cylinder scale)the mixture is set too rich , turn the screw counterclockwise
to lean the mixture.
This is explained much better in the book "Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine
Management" by Charles O. Probst. Look on pages 32 and 33 for a better
explanation.
Thanks mark

Hello DML'ers,
I came across an old DeLorean ad (two pages), and I was struck by a warm feeling when I read the ad, because this ad is different than other car ads. Other car ads promise you everything, but fail to fullfill the promises. The DeLorean ad also promise you everything and succeeds! It is an honest ad and it is right to the point!
Let me quote the ad for you, and see if you agree :)
"YOUR EYES SKIM THE SLEEK, SENSUOUS STAINLESS STEEL BODY, AND ALL YOUR SENSES TELL YOU, "I'VE GOT TO HAVE IT!"
THE COUNTERBALANCED GULL-WING DOORS RISE EFFORTLESSLY, BECKONING YOU INSIDE.
THE SOFT LEATHER SEAT IN THE COCKPIT FITS YOU LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR YOUR BODY.
YOU TURN THE KEY. THE LIGHT ALLOY V-6 COMES TO LIFE INSTANTLY.
THE DE LOREAN. SURELY ONE OF THE MOST AWAITED AUTOMOBILES IN AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY.
IT ALL BEGAN WITH ONE MAN'S VISION OF THE PERFECT PERSONAL LUXURY CAR. BUILT FOR LONG LIFE, IT EMPLOYS THE LATEST SPACE-AGE MATERIALS.
OF COURSE, EVERYONE STARES AS YOU DRIVE BY. SURE, THEY'RE A LITTLE ENVIOUS. THAT'S EXPECTED. AFTER ALL, YOU'RE THE ONE LIVING THE DREAM..."
--- For all the enthusiasts out there - this is the feeling true DeLorean owners have. The DeLorean is best car ever. Treat yourself and buy a DeLorean. You will never regret it. And for all "museum-owners" out there, drive the DeLorean, if not your saving it for somebody else. Have fun today. Mileage will not be an issue if you are the "investment-owner". The car will increase its value steadily.
Best wishes Stian Birkeland NORWAY

I finally got some pictures posted from the Autocross in St. Louis on October 10th. Work has been cutting into my free time lately, so it's a pretty basic page.
http://www.buffalochips.org/stlautox/
I've included stills and MPEG movies from the Autocross and some stills (not many due to low lighting) from the DOA Expo the day before. I'll be adding more stills to both when I finish shooting the roll of 35mm that's still in my camera. The pictures I've posted were from a digital camera as well as a couple of captures off the video.
I also hope to get some pictures from the "My Classic Car" show in Evansville Indiana the weekend before the Expo. We had 7 cars lined up on Sunday at that show! Check the site again in about a week to see what I've added.

Hi there,
Just wondering: Is anyone else having trouble with the DML-digest? With trouble I mean not recieving anything at all...
It has been over 8 days since I got one; last message was #3916. Reading the messages on the web works fine, but it's quite a hassle for me.
I've allready written an email to eGroups, but they didn't respond and the moderators can't help me either. This is actually the second time this happens, but last time the digest finally arrived after 4 days...
Other eGroups I have a Subscribtion for work OK, so that can't be the problem.
Please respond to me personally (too) at Jan@vdWouw.Demon.nl or DMCDeLorean@HotMail.com
Thanks in advance,

Hello DML'ers, In trying to track the history of DeLorean VIN 6759, I've found out (Thanks to James at DMC Houston) that the car was sold by:
Kurland Cadillac-Oldsmobile, (Selling Dealer # 32100) 32 Route 304, Nanuet New York 10954.
For all New Yorkers out there - Does this dealer still exist? Is the address still valid? What is the phone number?
The car's first owner was a gentleman named John Buza, who actually was a citizen of New Zealand! Are there any New Zealanders on this list? His hometown was Auckland. Im curious whether the car was exported to New Zealand when the owner went home (if he has not moved to the States). I have his address if there is anyone from New Zealand here...
Hope that somebody out there can help! You can e-mail me privately if you so desire.

Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
I have news about the DeLorean Owners Directory. The printed version that was first made available at the DeLorean Owners Association St. Louis Expo is now available to owners for $5 (includes shipping and postage).
To order a copy, go to the http://www.dmcnews.com website, for the Owners Directory page and check the Listed Owners page and see if you are in the directory. If so, mail a check for $5 along with your return address to the address listed at the bottom of the Listed Owners page. If you're not listed but you know you have submitted an entry, contact me. You can also submit an entry if you are an owner and then obtain a copy.
Only owners who have listed their cars in the Directory can obtain a copy of the Directory. This is to help protect the owners.
The directory is based on the VIN number of each car. I have over 40 entries where the VIN number was not included. If you know you sent in a form but don't find yourself listed in this directory, it may be because the VIN number was left off or there were duplicate VIN numbers and I was unable to verify the information before this issue went to press.
It's been over a year since an issue of the directory was published and there's still a lot of catching up to do. I'm getting several submissions a day now and with publication of the Directory I expect the volume to increase. I'm looking forward to getting the list to over 1000 cars. With that we'll be able to generate some interesting statistics about the production of the cars. Combined with some of the remaining DMC documents, this may provide enough history to answer many of the production questions that keep showing up on the DML.
We're still working on a system to make the Directory available on-line.
Thanks!

Your cold start problem and overly rich condition may be related to your CO mixture adjustment. I have three questions for you: 1. Have you replaced your O2 sensor ? 2. Has the CO mix tamper-proof plug been removed ? 3. Have you checked the operation of your acceleration (fuel) enrichment circuit ?
Concerning your door torsion bar adjustment, at on time we published instructions on how to perform this procedure but after a report of smashed rear window and severely cut finger of an owner attempting this dangerous procedure we no longer publish this information.

Sorry, I don't agree with your analysis. The engine will not run hot with an overly lean condition and will not cook the spark plugs. The CIS fuel system will only operate within a very narrow range of air / fuel mixture therefore the engine will not run if the mixture is too lean or too rich.

James is absolutely correct, the Lift-O--Mat struts do not have the dampening feature. We purchase all of our struts from DMC Houston & PJ Grady because of their superior quality and damping valve feature.
