I just found this source of information about DeLoreans on the Internet
and I would like to "SUBSCRIBE" to your newsletter. I am the president
of the Southeastern DeLorean Auto Club which is centered in Atlanta, but
includes members in Georgia, Alabama, Northern Florida, Northa and South
Carolina and Tennessee. I publish a newsletter about 10 times a year and
would like to try this forum as a way to keep in touch with a broader
range of owners.
In case the message has not reached this audience, I want to alert
everyone to the fact that a big get-together is planned for the weekend
of September 22-25 in Asheville, N.C.

Subject: turbo's on a delorean?
This isn't specific to the Delorean, but most mechanics I've spoken with have
recomended against purchasing a car with a used turbo. Their suggestion has
always been to buy a car with an easy turbo add-on (after market), and pay to
have the turbo added later.
Let us know what your thoughts are on the vehicle after testing it, I've never
driven or even seen a turbo-charged Delorean before! Although I heard that KAPAC
installed turbo in some models before selling them, don't know if there's
any truth to that or not . . .

Subject: Parts and problems
I have two questions about starting and the oil pressure gage which I know have
been addressed many times. I have a starting problem when the engine is hot. I
have read numerous articles on checking (1) the fuel pump; (2) the wiring to
the fuel pump (3) the inertia switch, (4) etc. What could be wrong if the car has
a fully charged battery but when warm, will not crank except when jump
started and then it cranks right up. Secondly, is everyone else's oil pressure
gage almost always pegged > 80psi?
Third, I have checked several parts people including Specialty and Delorean 1,
but can't find the 1. plastic cover over the starter in the upper right engine
compartment, 2. the cover over the contacts/connections in the upper left
engine compartment and 3 the cover over the ignition coil. Any ideas?

Subject: Clutch
I own an 81 model with about 25,000 on the clock, recently my clutch has started
to slip quite badly. Does anyone know the easiest way to fix this problem, i.e.
does the gearbox have to come, or is there any adjustment.
Look forward to a few replies

I'd really appreciate it if anyone in Florida could tell me of
good insurance companies that fully insure Deloreans WITHOUT
automatically placing them in the same insurance premium range as the
Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc! I am aware of the fact that DOA (of which I'm
a member) formerly had someone who researched just that sort of thing.
Also, for you Floridians, I'd like to know how many of us there are and
if a loosely formed phone or address network (informal, of course) might
be a good idea - though to this newsgroup's credit, we've got
(inter)national accessibility down to a science! Thanks in advance to
all with time to respond.
