Me! I'm Aaron Barrus at Novell! I made a comment about turbos on cars that I
believe started this thread - so I've continued to be copied.

Please keep me on the message loop, though. I'm very interested in the 'turbo'
DeLorean! I've been trying to decide if I want to look for a DeLorean with
installed turbo (taking my chances), or have it installed myself. And
just how many extra horsies can you get out of a DeLorean with twin turbos? Is
it really worth it?

Subject: stupid traffic laws
In reference to the stupid traffic laws you spoke of in Nevada - I've found this
internet site, which is for the National Motorists Association. It's objectives
are:
To oppose speed traps and other traffic enforcement measures carried out for
revenue generation purposes.
To guarantee the retention of your individual rights when using public
streets, roads, and highways.
To support speed limits based on sound engineering criteria and public
consensus.
To protect your right to own and use the kind of vehicles you prefer.
To support improved driver training and education.
To protect your right to go where you want, when you want, and the way you want.

Directly, it is at: "http://www.msn.fullfeed.com:80/nma/"

When I finally purchase my DeLorean, I fully intend to be a member of the NMA!

Rob,
I used to own a 1981 with an automatic. Sold it in 1987 after driving it for
4 years and 60,000 mi. It was my only car at the time. Very slug-like but a
lot of fun. There really isn't any way to compare the 5 speed and the auto,
they are so different! Add twin turbos and a comparison, except for body and
interior, is impossible. The stock DMC motor has about 130HP and the
Twin-Turbo has about 235HP. These come on gradually after 2,600 RPM and just
push you back in the seat, unlike the 930 that comes on suddenly.
Prior to the DMC auto, I had a 924 and I really can't draw many equations
between the two. The 924 is more nimble but slower, does that make sense?
When I was bringing it home from CA I passed a line of Motor Homes, going up
a rather steep grade, with a Corvette and some kind of Z car behind me. They
couldn't keep up.
As to specifics, I don't know what to tell you. DOUBT ANYTHING A DEALERSHIP
SAYS!! I assume this is the one at Campbell's. I don't know anything about
them, start with the Better Business Bureau. If you have a friend on the
police force ask for a history of the car based on the Lic. number or VIN, or
maybe you can buy a history from the DMV.
Walk around the car and look at it carefully. If it doesn't look right,
don't buy it. Look for wear on the floor mats and drivers seat. A car with
8,000 mi. should look brand new. The doors, hood and louvers should open
fully and stay up. No drooping. Check the louvers for cracks where the lifts
attach.
This isn't the only one around. There is another in Ohio at 419-238-3931.
Hemmings page 7619, Sept. 95.
I have no idea who abarrus@novell.com is.

Swedish AutoService (800-350-7429) sells door seals for approx $122 each,
which is an original style repro door seal. However, I heard that the
Chrysler minivan rear door seal is the same as the DeLorean inner door seal,
though I don't know from which model year. In looking at a neighbors '93, I
could tell that the seal has same profile as the DeLorean with one small
difference: the minivan seal has the small "air" holes on the opposite side
of the seal than the DMC seal does, so when it is installed the "air" holes
are visible (instead of being hidden on the back side of the seal). These
"air" holes are spaced about 7-8" apart, are relatively small, and (in my
opinion) neither detract from the appearance of the seal nor would they
affect the seal's performance at all.

Anybody know of any others, or more on the minivan seal?
